White paper: Copilot for Microsoft 365,
the optimal adoption journey

Microsoft Forms: what do you need to know?

Microsoft launched Microsoft Forms in September 2018. Since then, it has brought together a large audience looking for a service that allows them to create surveys, polls, and quizzes. Compared to Google Forms, Microsoft Forms has a simpler and more pleasant interface. Microsoft Forms is available to anyone with a Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) account. But what is Microsoft Forms, and how can you use it and its various integrations?

Discover the different steps to create your questionnaire or survey with Microsoft Forms

1. Create your form

The Microsoft Forms platform is one of the easiest to use. All you need to do is log into your Microsoft 365 account, and go to the “Forms” app.

You will arrive at the main dashboard, where you can manage your active questionnaires, or create a new one. From here you will have several options to customize your form, such as changing its title, adding a photo, and setting a publication and expiration date. You can even share your form later via different platforms and to various users, both internal and external. There are many possibilities available to you.

2. Collect the answers and analyze them in Microsoft Forms

Once your questionnaire is completed, the Microsoft Forms platform offers you an overview of the answers you have obtained, in order to analyze them.

Just head to the Responses tab of your form and you will see the responses. The good thing is that Microsoft Forms gives a visual representation of all the answers, which makes it easy to understand. You will of course be able to see the answers in more detail if you wish. You can also take advantage of an integration with Microsoft Excel, so you can find all the answers to your questions in an Excel table.

Possible integrations with Microsoft Forms

Microsoft Forms and SharePoint

Like many other Microsoft 365 apps, Forms works well with SharePoint. There is a Microsoft Forms tab in SharePoint Online that allows you to embed intake forms or results.

Microsoft Forms and Power Automate

Forms also integrates with Power Automate. This means that you can take a form’s input and utilize it elsewhere, for example by using it to populate SharePoint lists, or integrating it into other applications and databases of your choice.

Microsoft Forms and PowerBI

Even though Forms gives you a quick overview of your questionnaire results, you have the option of connecting Forms with PowerBI. Thanks to PowerBI, you will be able to see your results in much greater detail.
