Security Vulnerabilities Detected In On-Premises Microsoft Exchange

Microsoft recently announced that it has discovered a security vulnerability affecting local Microsoft Exchange servers. Microsoft also clarified that all Microsoft Exchange Online users are not at risk. This is just one more reason to migrate your structures to Microsoft 365 Online. If you are affected by this security flaw, here are some details that may be useful to you:  

 

Who Is At Risk?

The actor of this threat, Hafnium, is said to originate from China, and is active in North America. As mentioned above, online versions of Microsoft Exchange are not affected by this threat.

Here are the risky versions of on-premises Microsoft Exchange:

  • Exchange Server 2013
  • Exchange Server 2016
  • Exchange Server 2019

 

Take Action To Avoid This Threat

We recommend that all individuals and corporate networks using on-premises versions of Microsoft Exchange perform all of the remediation actions recommended by Microsoft (here). In addition, we strongly encourage you to migrate your local infrastructures to the Microsoft 365 cloud, in order to avoid any similar threats in the future.
