White paper: Copilot for Microsoft 365,
the optimal adoption journey

F.A.Q about Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft 365 Copilot piqued the curiosity of our listeners during a recent webinar given by our team. In order to provide you with as much information as possible on the subject, we’ve put together a series of questions and answers. To make things clearer, we’ve divided your questions into 3 main sections: Modalities, Features, Security and Future. Find out more below, and learn all you need to know on the subject!

Terms and conditions

When will Microsoft 365 Copilot be available?

Copilot is now available since January 2024.

How much will Microsoft 365 Copilot cost?

The Copilot license is $40.70/month/user, annual subscription only available at the moment (1 payment).

What Microsoft 365 license do I need to access Copilot?

Business Standard or Business Premium for companies with 1 to 299 users. For companies with 300 users or more, the prerequisites are: Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 or Office 365 E3 or E5,

What can you do to prepare for the arrival of Microsoft 365 Copilot?

To prepare for the arrival of Microsoft 365 Copilot, we recommend that you get used to working with your Microsoft software in the cloud instead of the desktop version. This way, you’ll be able to take full advantage of Microsoft 365 Copilot from day one, thanks to a well-stocked database!

It’s also highly recommended that you carry out a structure diagnostic in your Microsoft 365 environment to ensure sound governance, particularly of your security and privacy groups.

Is deleting emails a problem for Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Yes, absolutely: the more your new assistant has to work with, the better it will perform. Permanently deleting your e-mails is therefore counter-productive if you want to benefit from the power of Microsoft 365 Copilot. It’s better to keep some content in the recycle garbage can.

Do you think we’ll have to train to provide Microsoft Copilot with “good prompts”?

Definitely! For those of you who have tested Open AI’s Chat-GPT, you’ve probably experienced it first-hand. A quality query provides a better context for the tool, thanks to the “Generative Pre-trained transformer”, which gives a precise answer to your query.

MS Solutions will be offering training on this subject in the near future!

Features

What’s the difference between Microsoft 365 Copilot and Viva Insight in Outlook?

Viva Insight is uniquely linked to Outlook, and its role is to empower your organization to improve productivity and performance through actionable, data-driven insights.

Microsoft 365 Copilot gives you access to a wide range of data, not only from Outlook, but also from all the applications in the M365 ecosystem. What’s more, Microsoft 365 Copilot doesn’t just provide you with data – it goes much further, processing that data in the direction you want to go!
In short, Microsoft 365 Copilot will amplify what you already know from Viva Insight, and extend it to applications other than Outlook.

We know that Chat GPT doesn’t always provide up-to-date data, so how do we know that Microsoft 365 Copilot will offer us accurate information?

For Chat GPT there is a free version where the data provided is blocked to 2021. The paid version, on the other hand, is directly connected to the Internet, providing access to the latest data. The same applies to Microsoft 365 Copilot, which is connected directly to the Internet.

Can Microsoft 365 Copilot be used on a SharePoint site?

SharePoint is part of your M365 environment, so yes, Microsoft 365 Copilot can draw its data from SharePoint in particular.

Will Microsoft 365 Copilot be able to create images for my document or PowerPoint creations?

Yes, Microsoft 365 Copilot also includes Dall-E AI, which generates images on demand. Say goodbye to external image banks where you had to search for the image that would match your text, now the AI creates it for you!

Is the Microsoft 365 Copilot code the same as Open Ai’s Chat-GPT code?

Yes, but not only! Microsoft 365 Copilot’s code is much broader than Chat-GPT’s, incorporating other artificial intelligence codes such as Dall-E for image generation and Davinci for video.

Cybersecurity

Will my data be shared with Microsoft or Chat-GPT?

No! Your data is protected and secure. Under no circumstances will it be shared outside your Microsoft environment.
Nevertheless, although Microsoft has put in place proven security barriers, we can only recommend that you train your employees in good security practices, as 95% of security breaches are due to human error.

Will Microsoft 365 Copilot comply with Bill 25?

Yes, but we strongly suggest that you carry out a diagnostic of your M365 structure to ensure that your data governance is optimal to avoid internal data leaks. This applies with or without Copilot.

Will it be possible to deactivate the Microsoft 365 Copilot transcript function to ensure confidentiality in a Teams meeting?

Depending on the governance set up by your organization, you will probably be able to deactivate this function in order to retain an aspect of confidentiality for specific meetings. This detail remains to be confirmed at the time of Copilot’s launch.

Let’s imagine that we have our Microsoft 365 account hacked. Will the hacker be able to do unwanted things via Copilot?

We do not yet know the potential flaws, but we can think that Microsoft will have foreseen the coup on the cybersecurity plan.

Future

Will the arrival of Microsoft 365 Copilot make jobs obsolete?

Microsoft 365 Copilot won’t replace a human in the sense that it needs instructions to operate. Think of it as an assistant that will relieve you of your chores and let you put your time into more interesting tasks that are just waiting for your potential to emerge.

What do I risk if I decide not to use Copilot because the cutting-edge aspect of artificial intelligence scares me?

If you don’t use the technological tools at your disposal, you’re bound to lose out on your competitors. When you consider the speed at which technology has developed in recent years, it goes without saying that a few months’ non-use of these technologies for your teams will be equivalent to several years’ delay in terms of progress.
